Lloyd Bridges, an acclaimed actor known for his roles on both the silver screen and television, passed away on March 10, 1998 at the age of 85. Bridges was born on January 15, 1913 in San Leandro, California. He had experience as a stage actor before debuting on screen in 1942. Throughout his lengthy acting career, Bridges starred in dozens of movies, including 'High Noon' (1952), 'The Destructors' (1968), and 'Airplane!' (1980). On the small screen, his prominent roles included Mike Nelson on the television series 'Sea Hunt' (1958-1961) and Willy Fox on 'Wacko' (1982-1983). Bridges was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1996. In his lifetime he was nominated for four Emmy Awards and won a Golden Globe Award for his performance in the miniseries 'The Yellow Wallpaper' in 1974. Towards the end of his life, Bridges served as an active philanthropist, donating to several charities. Lloyd Bridges will be remembered for his iconic performances, which continue to shape the entertainment industry today.
