Margot Kidder, an iconic Canadian-born actress best known for her portrayal of Lois Lane in the Superman movies and the horror classic Black Christmas, passed away on May 13, 2018 at the age of 69. Kidder achieved international recognition and fame as the intrepid Daily Planet reporter in Superman and its sequels, starring alongside Christopher Reeve. She won a Saturn Award and a Primetime Emmy award and held close friendships with many of her castmates of the Superman series throughout her life. She continued in a successful career on the silver screen and small screen, appearing in hits such as Black Christmas, Three’s Company, Murphy Browne and the cult classic Brothers McMullen. Later in life, she returned to the horror genre in 2014 with a sequel to the original Black Christmas. A lifelong humanitarian, Kidder was outspoken in her advocacy for causes, from animal rights and environmental causes to the activist movement Occupy Wall Street. Kidder's death was a tragic loss to both the acting world and the entire globe. She will be remembered for her powerful acting, her advocacy for social change, and her friendship and generosity.
