It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Grigoryevna Rasputin on September 27th, 1977, at the age of 78. Maria was a Russian peasant and the daughter of the famous healer Grigori Rasputin. Raised in Siberia, Maria's life was subject to considerable celebrity due to her father's association with Tsar Nicholas II's Romanov court. As a young adult, Maria settled in Paris, France, and began writing. Most notably, she wrote two autobiographies detailing her experiences growing up in Russia, as well as her tumultuous relationship with her father. Additionally, Maria was a historian and wrote a book about her father and the Romanov dynasty. Though Maria was an outspoken advocate for the preservation of her father's memory, she nonetheless suffered a great deal of personal grief caused by his assassination. Maria's memory will live on through her unique contributions to history. She was fondly remembered by her family, friends, and colleagues.
