Martin Landau, an Academy Award-winning actor who had a successful career that spanned more than 60 years, died on July 15, 2017, at the age of 89. Landau's long career began in the 1950s with roles in many television shows, including “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Gunsmoke,” and “The Twilight Zone.” He made his film debut in Alfred Hitchcock's 1959 classic "North by Northwest." In 1959, he had a star-making role in the film “Pork Chop Hill” and earned an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi in 1994’s “Ed Wood.” In addition to his Oscar win, he also earned three Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award nomination. Landau’s career continued to flourish well into the 2000s, in roles such as the prisoner Napoleon Solo on TNT’s remake of “The New Adventures of the Untouchables.” His last theatrical film was "The Last Poker Game," released in early 2017. He is survived by his daughters and his longtime partner, the actress Barbara Bain.
