British entertainer, playwright, and composer, Noël Coward, has passed away on March 26th, 1973 at the age of 73. Coward was born in London, England on December 16th, 1899 to Violet and Charles Coward. He began to show musical and dramatic talent at a very young age and wrote his first song at the age of seven. Throughout his career, he enjoyed enormous success in the worlds of theatre and music, writing both popular plays, such as Private Lives and Blithe Spirit, and singles, such as his legendary “Mad Dogs and Englishmen.” He was also quite successful as an actor and musician, appearing in such films as In Which We Serve and Inside Daisy Clover. His voice and charisma have left a lasting impression on the world of popular culture. Coward was knighted in 1970 for his outstanding contribution to the arts. He continued to write and perform his music and plays until shortly before his death. He is survived by his two adopted sons, and will be remembered fondly by the many admirers of his work and memorable performances.
