On June 5th, 1910, O. Henry, better known as William Sydney Porter passed away peacefully at the age of 47. He was born on September 11th, 1862 in Greensboro, North Carolina. O. Henry was a beloved writer known for his stories containing wit, warm characterization, and wry humour. He wrote numerous collections of short stories such as Rolling Stones, Heart of The West, and Waifs. Many of his stories were set in New York City and contained surprise twist endings. As a result, he became famous worldwide and has been credited with bringing a freshness to the American short story. O. Henry was a mainstay to the literature world and continues to be remembered fondly. He is now in a better place and will be greatly missed.
