It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lena Zavaroni, who died on October 1, 1999. Lena was born in 1964 to parents Joe and Edith Zavaroni. Growing up, she was a prodigiously talented singer and performer. By the age of nine, she had already released two major-label albums. The next several years saw Lena travel the world as a variety show performer, even appearing on numerous major American television shows during the height of her music career. She was beloved by fans and was often referred to as “Scotland’s pocket dynamo”. In later years, Lena suffered from severe anorexia nervosa, a disorder she had battled since her early teenage years. Sadly, her condition advanced drastically over the years and eventually led to her death at the young age of 35. Her death has been a great loss, not only to her family but to the entertainment world as well. We respectfully remember Lena and her legacy of incredible talent and enthusiasm. May she rest in peace.
