Osamu Tezuka, born November 3rd, 1928 in Toyonaka, Japan, passed away on February 9th, 1989. He was 60-years-old. Throughout his long career, Osamu achieved numerous accomplishments - from becoming the first manga artist to draw for animated films, to his founding of the animation studio Mushi Production, and the publishing of his works into books. His prolific works, such as Astro Boy, Jungle Emperor, and Black Jack, have left an impression and influenced a generation of manga readers. During his lifetime he received numerous awards in the industry, including the Order of the Rising Sun in 1983 and the Bungei Award in 1976. Osamu's legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who followed his works.
