Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark has tragically passed away on December 3, 1944, at the age of 62. Prince Andrew was born on February 2, 1882, in Greece as the son of George I of Greece and Olga Constantinovna of Russia. He was the younger brother of Constantine I of Greece and was close to his nephews Alexander I and George II of Greece. Prince Andrew served his country as a career soldier in the Greek Army and rose to the rank of Major general. He also served as a Greco-French liaison officer during World War I. Prince Andrew was well-known for his love for sports. He was an avid skier, enjoyed fencing and tennis, and was an accomplished horseman. He is survived by his son Prince Philip, who is the current Duke of Edinburgh, as well as numerous cousins, grand nephews, and grand nieces. He will be remembered for his compassion and loyalty to his family, friends and country.
