Princess Margarita of Greece and Denmark passed away peacefully on 24 April 1981, at the age of 76. The princess was born to Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg, in Menton, France, on 18 April 1905. As a princess of a Hellenic and Nordic lineage, she was known for her graciousness throughout her life. Following her service in the Red Cross during WWII, Princess Margarita regularly hosted philanthropic events at her home near Bern, Switzerland. The princess had been a generous supporter of many charities, as well as an accomplished painter and sculptor. She is remembered fondly by her artistic endeavors across Europe and the United States. A bright, energetic, and compassionate woman, Princess Margarita of Greece and Denmark will be dearly missed.
