Prithviraj Kapoor (1906 - 1972) passed away on May 29 1972, at the age of 65. He was a legendary Indian actor, producer, and director, born in present day Pakistan. Prithviraj started his career in the 1930s and he is known as the founder of the Kapoor acting dynasty, having initiated the careers of his three sons, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor. He acted in over 100 films, and was known for his charismatic presence and many memorable roles. He received many awards during his career, including the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 1969. Prithviraj was a revolutionary in the film industry, and his contribution will always be remembered and honored. He is survived by his wife, Ramsarni, and eight children.
