It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raúl Juliá on October 24, 1995. Raúl was 55 years old at the time of his passing. Raúl was an accomplished actor who was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, and began his on-screen career in 1968, appearing in various TV roles before landing a featured part in the 1975 movie, Our Latin Thing. During his career, he appeared in over forty films and fifteen plays, and also lent his voice to animated films like The Neverending Story III. Some of his best-known roles were as Gomez Addams in The Addams Family and its sequel, as Dante, a mysterious spirit, in The Brothers Grimm, and as Renaldo in the science fiction classic, The Return of Captain Invincible. Raúl was an iconic artist and a beloved member of the Latinx community. He will be remembered for his exceptional talent, advocacy for the Puerto Rican and Latinx people, and ever powerful performances. May he rest in peace.
