Roby Pilatus (1966 - 1998), best known as a member of the renowned pop music group Milli Vanilli, passed away on April 3, 1998 at the age of 32. Roby was born in Munich, Germany in 1966 and showed an early aptitude for music. In 1988, Milli Vanilli burst onto the international music scene with the hit song "Girl You Know It's True". They soon became a worldwide sensation, winning the 1990 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Despite the fame and fortune, controversy soon followed when it was revealed that Roby and his singing partner Fab Morvan had not actually sung on the recordings of their hit songs. Roby dedicated himself to rehabilitating his career and performed with Fab around the world. However, tragedy struck when Roby was found dead in his apartment in 1998. His death was later determined to be from an accidental prescription drug overdose. Roby will be remembered for his vast contributions to the international music scene and for his incredible talent. He will be deeply missed.
