Actor Robert Alda, renowned for his performances in Broadway musicals, film, and television, passed away on May 3, 1986 at 72 years old. Alda gained his initial fame as a musical-theater performer, notably as George Gershwin in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical 'Crazy for You.' His leading roles in 'Pal Joey' and 'What Makes Sammy Run' earned him Tony Award noms for best actor. Alda also appeared in 'Guys and Dolls' as Sky Masterson and 'La Strada' as Zampano.
