It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert Downey Sr., who passed away on July 7th, 2021 at the age of 85. Robert was an acclaimed American screenwriter, director, producer, and actor. Robert is best known for writing and directing the cult comedy-drama, Putney Swope, which was released in 1969. He also wrote and directed the films Babo 73, Greaser’s Palace, and Up the Academy. Robert appeared in many TV and film roles, including an episode of Bewitched, and the films Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Moulin Rouge, and Too Much Sun. In addition to his acting work, Robert was an accomplished writer and producer. He wrote for TV series such as Get Smart, The Monkees, and The Flying Nun. Robert was a pioneering and creative voice in Hollywood, often taking risks with his subversive and original vision. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
