The world lost one of its most talented and beloved actors when Robert De Niro passed away at the age of 71 on May 3, 1993. De Niro was born in New York City and began acting in the 1960s, building his reputation as a dynamic and daring star. Over the course of his career, he earned two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and other prestigious honors. He excelled in a wide variety of genres, playing both comedic and dramatic roles. He was universally praised for his iconic performances in classics such as The Godfather: Part II, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The Deer Hunter, his critically acclaimed directorial debut A Bronx Tale, and his later works including The Irishman. There are few actors who have built a body of work as varied and impressive. De Niro is survived by his children, mother, and siblings. His talent, passion, and indomitable spirit will be remembered for generations to come.
