Today, we come together to commemorate the life of Dr. Rosalind Franklin. Rosalind was a scientist and chemist from the United Kingdom who was active in the 1940s and '50s. Rosalind dedicated her professional life to the field of science, particularly molecular biology. In those early years of research, Rosalind used X-ray crystallography techniques to take pictures of molecular structures and study them. She was instrumental in the discovery of the structure of DNA, along with her collaborator, Maurice Wilkins. During her career, Rosalind published over a dozen scientific articles which dealt with topics such as the chemical structure of coal and the relationship of DNA molecules to one another. Her discoveries and research have contributed to the body of scientific knowledge we have today. Rosalind passed away on April 16, 1958, at the age of 37. She left behind a legacy of scientific research that has helped shape the way we think about science today. Let us honor her memory and keep her spirit alive by continuing to pursue the advancement of science.

Do not fear death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity. Laughing Bull
