Rudolf Steiner, the world renowned Austrian philosopher, scientist, occasion artist, and social innovator, died on March 30, 1925 at the age of 64. Born in 1861 in the Austrian empire, Mr. Steiner attended the Vienna Institute of Technology, gaining a doctorate in Philosophy and Mathematics. He was a lifelong advocate of the spiritual in all aspects of life, leading a multifaceted career as a teacher and scientist, producing works on philosophy and spiritual science. In his later life, he founded both the Anthroposophical Society, a spiritual movement dedicated to furthering self knowledge, and the Waldorf Schools, a network of over 1,000 schools worldwide. His influence extended far beyond his work within the Anthroposophical Society and Waldorf Schools, as he wrote and spoke on a range of topics including education, art, history and many of the sciences. He is perhaps best known for his groundbreaking insights into the spiritual and cosmic realms and his countless works of literature which he addressed to the public. He will surely be remembered for the legacy of his wisdom and work and for the countless lives he touched through his remarkable teachings.
