Sam Kinison, a standup comedian and actor, passed away on April 10, 1992, at the age of 38. Born in Yakima, Washington on December 8, 1953, Kinison was known for his outrageous, screaming cross between comedy and pentecostal preaching. He pursued a career in standup in the early 1980s and became an overnight success, often credited with reigniting the standup comedy scene in the 80s with his unique and irreverent routines. Kinison appeared on numerous TV and film projects and was nominated for a 1989 Grammy Award for Best Comedy Recording. Kinison suffered a fatal car accident near Needles, California, in 1992 and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was survived by his wife and two siblings. Sam Kinison will be remembered for his innovative contributions to standup comedy and as one of the boldest, most original comedians of his era. He will continue to be remembered and revered by fans around the world.
