Scott Walker, a pioneering singer, songwriter and producer, passed away on March 22, 2019, at the age of 76. Scott Ernest Walker was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1943. He first found success at the age of 17 as part of The Walker Brothers, a band he formed with his brothers John and Gary. In 1965 they had a number one hit in the UK with their cover of “Make It Easy On Yourself”. The group had several more hits over the years, but Walker eventually began to pursue a solo career in 1967. His first album as a solo artist, Scott, featured a combination of original material and covers of classic tunes. Walker was an influential figure in the music world, pioneering the use of strings and string arrangements in his music. He released a total of 14 albums throughout his career, the most recent being 2016’s The Childhood of a Leader. His work gained a cult following, influencing the likes of Bowie, Radiohead, Echo & The Bunnymen and more. Scott Walker is remembered as a unique and influential artist of the music world. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, and their two children.
