Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionary who helped found the Republic of China. He served as its first president from 1912 until his death in 1925. Sun was an early advocate for democratic reform in China and is widely considered the father of modern China. He is also recognized for his role in leading the country's resistance to Japanese aggression during World War II.
