Suzanne Pleshette, an acclaimed American actress and television star, passed away on January 19, 2008. She was 70 years old. She left a considerable body of work in film and television, having worked in Hollywood for more than 45 years. She starred in the sitcom ‘The Bob Newhart Show’ as Emily Hartley, the wife of Bob Newhart’s character, from 1972 to 1978. Over the course of her career, Pleshette was nominated for several awards and was praised for her outstanding performances. In addition to her acting career, Pleshette was also a dedicated animal-welfare activist. She supported various campaigns for animal protection as a board member of the Los Angeles Zoo Commission. Other activities included supporting the education of at-risk teens. She will be remembered widely for her strong, witty, and relatable performances. Pleshette is survived by her husband, actor Tom Poston.
