It is with great sadness that we announced the death of Ted Kaczynski, who passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023, at the age of 81. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Ted was born on May 22, 1942 to Theodore and Wanda Kaczynski. As a young man, he excelled academically, earning an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Harvard in 1962 and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1967. In his later years, Ted was best known for his involvement in a series of bombings from 1978 to 1995 aimed at businesses and universities, which resulted in three deaths and 23 injuries. He was arrested in 1996 and eventually sentenced to life in prison. Ted is survived by his brother David, his sister-in-law Linda, and his two nephews. His memory will be treasured by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
