Teji Bachchan, beloved matriarch of the Bachchan family, passed away on December 21, 2007, at the age of 93. Born in Punjab in 1914, Teji moved to Delhi as a young girl and married Hollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan’s father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, in 1941. Together, the couple raised two sons, Amitabh and Ajitabh, and she was said to be a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Though her husband was a famous poet, she was said to keep a low profile. She was known for her strong will and values, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Teji was a well-respected member of the local community, and she was known for her devout Hindu faith. She was a generous philanthropist and a devout caregiver. The Bachchan family, along with their friends, are deeply saddened by her passing. Teji Bachchan leaves behind her son Amitabh and his wife Jaya, her son Ajitabh and his wife Ramola, and her grandchildren.
