Tiny Tim, born Herbert Khaury in New York City, died November 30, 1996 at age 64. His rise to fame began in the late 1960s with the release of his hit song "Tiptoe Through the Tulips." His larger-than-life persona and vibrant style endeared him to audiences of all ages. His distinctive falsetto singing and unorthodox ukulele playing made him an international sensation, and he went on to an extensive performing career, making numerous television and radio appearances. He named his band "The Ukulele Orchestra." Throughout his lifetime, Tiny Tim was a devoted advocate of cultural preservation and music education. He believed that access to music should be available to everyone, not just those with financial means. Although Tiny Tim is gone, his memory will live forever in the hearts of the millions of fans he impacted throughout his lifetime.
