It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Tony Richardson on 14th November 1991 at the age of 63. Tony was born in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, England to his parents Bertha and Jack Richardson of October 28, 1928. Tony is remembered for his unique approach to filmmaking, practicing a bold and innovative style of cinema. With an eye for contemporary life and characters, he pioneered a modern, non-conformist technique that inspired future generations of filmmakers. He was honored with two Academy Awards for Best Director for "Tom Jones" (1963) and "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" (1962), as well as the BAFTA Award for his outstanding direction in the "The Charge of the Light Brigade" (1968). The memory of Tony Richardson will live on through his spirited work. His filmography, which also includes the classic films "Look Back in Anger" (1960) and "The Entertainer" (1960) among many others, will remain a testament to his impact on filmmaking. He will be dearly missed by all of his friends, family, and fans.
