Actor, producer and director Tony Randall died on May 17, 2004, at the age of 84. He was born as Arthur Leonard Rosenberg on February 26, 1920, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The distinguished actor is best known for his starring role as Felix Unger in the popular television series The Odd Couple, for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best TV Actor in a Musical or Comedy. He also had successive lead roles on television series such as The Tony Randall Show, Love, Sidney, and Mr. Adams and Eve. In film, Randall had an acclaimed career in roles such as Auntie Mame, Pillow Talk, Seven Faces of Dr. Lao, and All of Me, for which he also received a Golden Globe nomination. He published an autobiographical work titled “Tony Randall: The Gentleman from New York” in 1997. Randall was an active philanthropist with several arts-related organizations, including the National Film Preservation Board, which oversees the preservation of America's film heritage. His exemplary talents and contributions to the film and television industry will be remembered.
