Uday Hussein, the son of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, has died at the age of 39. Uday was born into a life of privilege and power, playing a crucial role alongside his father throughout his lifetime. Uday was widely known as a cruel and ruthless figure who committed horrendous acts of violent repression against Iraqi civilians while his father was in power. He was also acclaimed for his patronage of the arts, sports, and media - particularly for his reform of Iraq's Olympic athletes. In July of 2003, Uday Hussein was killed in a US military raid on the home of his brother, Qusay. Uday's death marked an end to his tumultuous reign and legacy. Uday Hussein is survived by his father, Saddam Hussein, and his two brothers, Qusay and Qusay Al-Tikriti. He will be remembered by those closest to him and the Iraqi people.
