Edward (Eddie) Smith, better known by his ring name Umaga, passed away on December 04, 2009 at the age of 36. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1973, Umaga began wrestling in the late 1980s, developing a character known as “The Samoan Bulldozer”. Umaga moved on to a successful 15-year career in Japan, though he became a household name for his later appearances on World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) shows. During his 4-year WWE career, Umaga competed in multiple matches, including WrestleMania 22 and WrestleMania XXIV. His renowned wrestling technique and signature moves were recognized by fans and fellow wrestlers alike, and his powerful physique made him a fan favorite. Umaga’s success and longevity in sports entertainment served as a model for aspiring wrestlers. He was recognized as one of the best technical wrestlers of his generation. He is survived by his wife and four children. He will be remembered for his athletic skill and contributions to the sport of professional wrestling.
