Vallabhbhai Patel died on December 15th, 1950, at the age of 75. He was an Indian barrister and statesman who is remembered today as one of the most important leaders of the Indian independence movement. He was born on October 31, 1875. Patel served as the first Home Minister of India following the country's independence from the British empire in 1947. He was also the second Deputy Prime Minister of India from 1947–1950. As Home Minister, Patel consolidated the princely states of India into the unified nation of India, where he is remembered as the "Iron Man of India" for his influential role in its integration. Patel's life was dedicated to his service to India and he is remembered as one of the heroes of Indian independence. He is also well-remembered for his leadership and dedication to for social reforms and to the citizens of India. He will be remembered fondly by the people of India.
