Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, renowned Indian politician and social reformer, died on February 26th, 1966 at the age of 82. Savarkar was born on May 28th, 1883 in the village of Bhagur in Maharashtra, British India. He was active in India's struggle for independence, fighting against British Raj in the period of Indian independence movement. He was one of the pioneers of the movement and advocated for the concept of Hindutva- an ideology promoting Indian nationalism along Hindu lines. Savarkar also wrote several books, treatises and papers on Indian politics and revolution. His works included "The Indian War of Independence.", "The History of the War of Indian Independence" and "1857: The True Story". Savarkar's political and social struggles and works had a lasting impact on India and its future politics. His advocacy and inspiration will not be forgotten.
