Walter Stanley Keane, artist and innovator, passed away on December 27th, 2000 at the age of 85. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 6th, 1915. He is survived by his beloved wife xxxxxx Keane, son Walter Stanley Jr., and daughter xxxxxxxx. Walter’s artistic career began in the late 1950s with the creation of his signature “Big Eyes” images. His paintings went on to become internationally popular and, at the time of his death, the name Walter Keane was synonymous with the distinctive commercial art. His paintings from this period are now considered part of the “Pop Art” movement. Walter was also an inventor and held several patents for his creations including a heat exchange system, integrated laser systems, digital sound processing signals, and methods for distributing digital products. He was a well-known public figure and a fixture in the business and art worlds for almost half a century. Walter will be remembered for his artistic vision, creative outlook, and commitment to excellence. He was a man who was always looking to move forward and create something new. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the art community.
