The music world is mourning the death of Memphis-born hip-hop artist Young Dolph, who died on November 17, 2021, at the age of 36. Young Dolph, born Adolph Thornton, Jr, started his musical career in 2008. His first mixtape, titled "Paper Route Campaign", was released soon after in 2010. From then on, Young Dolph went on to release six albums, two EPs, and 21 mixtapes throughout his career. He made a name for himself in the rap and hip-hop industry for his lyrics and beats, and soon earned himself the nickname "King of Memphis". While his early albums such as "King of Memphis" and "Bulletproof" solidified him as an underground artist, it was his 2017 album "Thinking Out Loud" that brought him a significant mainstream success. He went on to win various accolades for that album, including the BET Hip Hop Award for Impact Track in 2017, and was named alongside fellow Memphis artists 8Ball & MJG and Three 6 Mafia as part of Complex's list of 25 Straight Southern Rappers You Should Know in 2017. Young Dolph was known not only for his success in the music industry but also for his philanthropic efforts. He launched a charity called "Paper Route Empire", that was dedicated to helping underprivileged children throughout the Memphis area. Young Dolph was loved and respected by his peers, and will be remembered for his contribution to the rap game. He is survived by his wife and three children: daughter Brynn and sons King and Paper.

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love. Washington Irving
