On October 11, 1963, the French chanteuse, Édith Piaf, passed away at the age of 47. Born Edith Giovanna Gassion, Piaf rose to fame in Paris in 1935. Her powerful, emotive singing style quickly earned her the title of the "Spritual Voice of France" and firmly established her as an international singing sensation. Piaf's career spanned nearly three decades, during which she released numerous hit singles, including the timeless classics "La Vie en Rose" and "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien." Her career also included the release of 10 studio albums and numerous stage performances around the world. Piaf was also deeply respected in the French music industry. She was awarded the Legion of Honor, France’s highest honor, in 1956, and also received numerous awards in France for her work. Her remarkable life was cut short after 47 years, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of music that will not soon be forgotten.
