In 1965, after returning to the United States to continue his education, Obama Sr. met and married Ann Dunham, the mother of the future president of the United States. The marriage only lasted two years, and Obama Sr. went on to live in Kenya for the remainder of his life. Barack Obama Sr. was well-known in Kenya for his attempts to introduce new economic theories and challenge traditional methods. His efforts aimed to uplift his homeland, particularly the Luo tribe, helping it emerge from years of civil war and into a modern era.
