John F. Kennedy, 46, died on November 22nd, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. John was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts to Joseph P. and Rose Kennedy. He attended Harvard University where he graduated with degrees in international affairs and political science in 1940. That same year, he joined the United States Naval Reserve and served as a lieutenant during World War II. In 1947, he began his political career, becoming a Congressman for the 11th congressional district of Massachusetts. In 1952, he was elected to the U.S. Senate and served two terms. In 1960, he was elected President of the United States and during his presidency, he was involved in several key issues of his time including the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Civil Rights Movement. He was a passionate and loyal advocate for civil rights, working closely with leaders of the Movement to pass legislation like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. His legacy will live on through his dedication to public service and his ability to inspire a nation. He left behind his wife, Jacqueline, two children and a generation of Americans who remember him with reverence and admiration.
