Raymond Carver, a renowned American poet and short story author, died on August 2nd, 1988 at the age of 50. He was born in Clatskanie, Oregon in 1938, and grew up in Yakima, Washington. Carver published his first major collection of short stories, entitled "Will You Please Be Quiet, Please?" in 1976, and was subsequently catapulted into the literary limelight. His works have been translated into several languages and he has been greatly admired by readers for his unique style, themes, and unforgettable characters.
