Carrie Hamilton, 38, passed away on January 20, 2002, following a long illness. Ms. Hamilton was born in Louisiana, where she lived for most of her life. She was an exceptionally talented singer and actress. She performed in numerous theater and cabaret shows and went on to achieve great success as a writer and television producer. Ms. Hamilton's local fame skyrocketed when she was cast in the television movie "Purple State of Mind," playing the role of the lead character. She subsequently wrote a memoir about her experience making the movie, which was later published and became hugely successful. The legacy of her life and work will continue to inspire others for years to come. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
