On March 2nd, 1930, David Herbert Lawrence passed away at the age of 44. Lawrence was an English novelist, poet, playwright, literary critic, and painter. He was one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century, often exploring issues of human relationships and sexuality. He was born in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire in 1885. Lawrence's literary works include Sons and Lovers (1913), The Rainbow (1915), and Women in Love (1920), which were adapted into notable films throughout the years. He wrote many novels, short stories, plays, letters, and essays, and his collections of poetry often included images of nature and politics. Lawrence was both a critically acclaimed and controversial writer, facing censorship on several of his works due to their sexually-explicit themes. He has been remembered for his deeply personal language and conversational style of writing in many different genres. He will be remembered for his influential and pioneering work in modern literature.
