David Gest, legendary producer and star of reality TV, passed away April 12, 2016 in London, England. He was 62. Gest was born on May 11, 1953 in Los Angeles, California to American soul singer and entertainer Martha Unger and janitor Eddie Gest. He was a successful, multi-talented artist, best known as the producer and creator of hit television programs such as Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration, Liza Minnelli and David Gest: Together, and David Gest’s This Is Your Life. He was also a celebrity participant in the British reality series I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Born with a passion for music and entertainment, Gest was an influential force in the industry until his death. He was the executive producer of the respected AMAs (American Music Awards) for several years and was also known for his charity work. He owned his own record label, Gestmusic, and collaborated with icons including Michael Jackson, Liza Minnelli, and Diana Ross. He was inducted into the International Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2013. Gest's larger-than-life personality was the subject of much of his work. He will be remembered by those who knew him and loved him, as well as all whose lives he touched through his work. He is survived by his two daughters, and two sisters, Tina and Sherry. His funeral service will be held later this month in Los Angeles, California. He will be greatly missed.
