Desmond Llewelyn, best known for his role as Q in the James Bond films, passed away on 19th December 1999, aged 85. A respected actor, Llewelyn was born in Newport, South Wales on 12th September 1914 and began his acting career in the late 1930s. Llewelyn was a veteran of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, serving in World War II. Following the War, Llewelyn returned to the theater, eventually finding great success on the silver screen. He was seen in such classics as luggage-sorter Wilkins in Dr. No (1962), and as Q in seventeen more James Bond films. Throughout his career, he earned numerous awards and critical acclaim for his work. Desmond Llewelyn's legacy will live on through his films and the memorable effect they have had on generations of viewers. He is survived by his two sons.
