Doug McClure (1935-1995) passed away on 5 February 1995 at the age of 59. Throughout his life, he was an American actor best known for his roles in popular television shows like The Virginian. Doug was born on 11 May 1935 in Glendale, California and began acting at an early age. His first major role was in 1957 in the film, The Brave One. He was subsequently cast in a number of films, including The Unforgiven, War Hunt, Ride the High Country, and The Myth of the Male Caveman. He is most widely known for his role as Trampas, the sidekick to the title character on The Virginian, a Western television series which ran from 1962 to 1971. This role earned him two Golden Globe nominations as Most Popular Male TV Star. Doug later appeared in variety shows, movies, and the 1975 Fantasy Island TV series, where he alternated as an action star and an occasional non-action role. Aside from his acting career, Doug was an avid horseman and served as vice president of the Hollywood Stuntmen's Association. He is survived by his wife and two children.
