Edward Herrmann, award-winning actor and beloved figure in the entertainment industry, passed away on Wednesday December 31st, 2014 in Manhattan. He was 71 years old. Edward was best known for his prolific work in television, films, and theater. His many character roles and appearances spanned over four decades. Edward's remarkable acting career began off-Broadway at the York Theatre Company and the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center and he later went on to become a Tony Award-nominated theater actor. His performance in the 1971 production of Mojo won him an Obie Award. Though his early career included working in television, a few of his memorable works included The Paper Chase (1973), The Lost Boys (1987), and Parenthood (1989). He was known for his portrayal of Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls (2000-07), for which he was nominated for an Emmy. In 20o6 Edward won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his guest appearance in the show "Rescue Me". Most recently in 2011, he starred as Grandpa in the smash hit The Three Stooges movie. Edward's career was marked by his dedication to the art form, his respect for others in the business, and his indelible mark on the entertainment industry. He is beloved by his fans and his colleagues and will be deeply missed.
