Howard Hesseman, an accomplished character actor and comedian, passed away on 2022 January 29th, at the age of 81. Born in 1940 in Lebanon, Oregon, Hesseman entered the entertainment industry in the 1970s. His career included appearances in television, on stage, and in films. He was perhaps best known for his role as DJ Dr. Johnny Fever in the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, which ran from 1978-82. He also appeared in other iconic shows such as The Bob Newhart Show, ALF, The Monkees, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and many others. In the 90s, Hesseman shifted his focus to film, appearing in hits like One Crazy Summer, Swing Kids, and Doctor Detroit, which won him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He won a People`s Choice Award in 1981 for Favorite New Male TV Star. Hesseman also lent his voice to various characters in animated series, such as Donatello in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons, T-Bone the Alley Cat in CatDog, and Jack Hammer in The Boondocks. He is survived by his two sons.
