Egon Schiele, a talented Austrian painter, died on October 31st 1918 at the age of 28. Schiele’s career was short but prolific, producing nearly three thousand works of art in his lifetime. During his life, Schiele developed a unique artistic style of Expressionism. This style was often characterized as being highly controversial, powerful, and emotionally charged. Despite the controversy, Schiele was recognized for his artistic vision and innovation. Schiele was born on June 12th 1890 in Tulln an der Donau, Austria. He initially trained to become an architect, but instead pursued his passion for painting and attended Vienna's Academy of Fine Arts. It was here that Schiele developed and honed his unique vision in art, creating unique companies of figures to communicate his artistic exploration of the body, interior and psychological states. His works had a lasting impact on the Expressionism movement, and he is remembered for his profound yet edgy approach. After his death, his legacy continued to inspire many other expressionist painters. Schiele’s artistic vision and remarkable works will continue to be remembered.
