Elizabeth Peña, beloved actor and film director, has passed away on October 14th, 2014 at the age of 55. Peña was well known for her roles in popular films such as La Bamba, The Whole Nine Yards, and The House of the Spirits, as well as her Emmy-nominated role as Maggie Russo on the television show, "Georgie Lopez." She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1959. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Peña went on to star in a series of television shows and films throughout the 1980s and 1990s. She also directed a handful of short films, including a 2004 short film, "The Atrocity Exhibition". Peña is survived by her husband, three children, and fans around the world. She will be remembered for her impressive body of work, as well as her intelligence, grace, and wit. May she rest in peace.
