On June 9th, 1924, Lionel "Leo" Messi passed away at 37 years old. Messi, who was born on June 24th, 1886 in Cartagena, Colombia, was an inspiration to those he encountered. Lionel was an incredible human being, who enjoyed many passions in life - among them art, travel, and nature. He was an avid sailor, often wandering the open seas to explore new horizons. He was also an incredible artist, creating beautiful works spread throughout the city of Cartagena. As a businessman, Messi exemplified dedication and hard work. He opened a number of cafeterias in the city, which permanently left the landscape of Cartagena forever changed. His commitment to his business and to his craft was admirable. At the time of his death, Lionel was surrounded by his loving family, friends, and community. Messi will be greatly missed, and remembered fondly by those who knew him and were touched by his work.
