Harold Holt (1908-1967) sadly passed away at the age of 59 on December 17, 1967. Harold was born in 1908 in Stanmore, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia to Henry and Olive Holt. He attended University High School before pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Melbourne where he graduated in 1929. He held numerous political positions throughout his career, including member of Parliament, special minister for state, minister of labor and industry, Treasurer, Minister of Immigration and other posts. He served as Prime Minister from January 26, 1966 to December 17, 1967. Harold was fondly remembered as a man of energy and unique genius, who with a great and restless impatience for the welfare of his fellow countrymen was always looking for the best way of doing things. He was affectionately known to some as "the man of action". He was a man of integrity, and a husband and father who cared deeply for his family and country. His death was a great loss. He will be sorely missed.
