Isabel Sanford, a beloved actress and artist, has passed away at age 86. Isabel Sanford, born Eloise Gwendolyn Sanford on August 29, 1917, in New York City, was best known for her role as Louise “Weezy” Jefferson in the television sitcom, “The Jeffersons.” She received an Emmy for her role as the feisty wife of the ambitious George Jefferson. She was often referred to as a role model for African American women. In addition to her role as “Weezy” on the show, she performed in other television shows, films, stage plays, and radio. She was a hardworking and dedicated professional actor with a decades-long career. Isabel Sanford will be remembered as a talented and dedicated actress who often provided inspiration to many African American women. She will be sincerely missed.
