John (J.M.) Matthew Barrie died on June 19, 1937 in London, England at the age of 77. J.M. Barrie is best known for penning the timeless children’s fairytale, Peter Pan. He was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland, in 1860. He was the son of a weaver and was educated at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 1882 with an M.A. Barrie wrote and produced more than 25 works of plays, novels, and poems. He received a Knighthood in 1913 awarded for services to literature, when Peter Pan was staged in London. Additionally, his literary works have seen their first stage performance between 1894 and 1937. Barrie is remembered for his brilliance and his lasting contribution to the world through his creativity, humor, and inspiration. He will be forever greatly missed by those who read and enjoyed his works.
